Many ECU students encounter legal problems when they are in college. Typical criminal charges include underage drinking, misdemeanor possession of drugs or drug paraphernalia, and driving while impaired. Mr. Williams has represented many students charged with these and other offenses, including assault cases, resisting a public officer, felony credit card fraud, and even felony first degree burglary. A key concern in cases involving students is protecting the student’s record. Potential employers and graduate schools do more thorough background checks than ever these days, and even a minor criminal conviction in college can lead to serious problems in the future. Fortunately, we are very often able to resolve such charges with dismissals or substantial reductions to lower charges. We are also very often able to expunge (erase) the charges completely from the student’s court record. Doing so puts the student in a much better position after graduation, when it comes time to move to the next step in life. With the informed consent of the student, Mr. Williams will also be able to keep parents updated concerning the progress of the case. Payment arrangements can be made over the phone with parents, including credit card payments. Call today to schedule an appointment before you pay off that ticket or try to represent yourself. You will be glad you did!
